ABOUT KIDSAFE

KIDSAFE CT works to help families at risk of abuse or neglect of their children and families already experiencing problems of abuse or neglect. We are currently serving Connecticut families in Tolland County and Greater Hartford Counties. Families of all ethnic origins and income levels are involved. Whenever possible, both parents are included in KIDSAFE CTs programs.

JOB SUMMARY

The caseworker provides home-based parenting education to KIDSAFE CTs clientele. The caseworker is responsible for assessing the appropriateness of this level of intervention and choosing an appropriate curriculum based on the identified needs of the family. He/she meets with the family, writes an assessment, helps the family connect with other appropriate community resources and guides the family through identified parenting curriculum. He/she provides case management services as needed and represents the agency in client related or provider related community meetings. The caseworker maintains contact with the referrer and will notify the appropriate agency of any status change.

Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct and write Intake Assessment on assigned families according to the agency's format.
Visit assigned families a minimum of once a week (1.5 2 hour visit) to provide services including, but not limited to, the following:
Help clients set priorities, goals and follow through with implementing them.
Identify case management needs and develop action steps as needed.
Conduct ongoing assessment of the family's situation, needs, ability and willingness to change.
Provide parenting education on positive parenting, child development and appropriate discipline techniques.
Helps parents identify appropriate service needs.
Provide crisis intervention when appropriate.
Provide support and advocacy when appropriate.
Participate in Peer Supervision (PASS) meeting twice monthly.
Participate in staff training and mandatory meetings.
Keep client files updated and complete with required documentation.
Maintain adequate contact with community service providers.
Maintain a caseload of 10 families.
Facilitate parenting groups.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.



Experience and Skills:
Bachelors in Human Services with two years of experience.
Must have a valid CT drivers license.
Bilingual Required - Spanish Speaking
Willingness to work irregular and flexible hours.
Certified or eligible to be certified in Triple P Level 4 Standard and Standard Teen through accreditation process.
Strong assessment skills and the ability to problem solve.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Cultural competency to serve a diverse population
Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations. These essential functions include, but are not limited to the ability to function safely in a therapeutic situation.
