JOB SUMMARY: Renders diagnostic and psychotherapeutic services to children, adolescents and families; Participates in Quality Assurance and Utilization Review for assigned cases; Assists in implementing programmatic and agency priorities within the ECC and Permanency programs.


Unlicensed clinicians are hired prior to obtaining their license to practice as mental health practitioners (i.e. psychology, social work, LMFT, LPC, LADC). Unlicensed clinicians will receive supervision by a licensed clinician, and may be offered training opportunities. When eligible, all unlicensed clinicians are expected to obtain licensure in order to be considered for ongoing employment at The Village.

Provides direct services to children and their families which may include:
Assessment and engagement
Provide DSM IV Diagnosis in consultation with Supervisor and Medical Director or designated Psychiatrist
Formulation and contracting for services or treatment plan
Implementation of treatment plan, modifying it as appropriate during the course of treatment
Discharge planning which may include linkages to community support services
Case management services
Clinical documentation required by agency and program policies, HIPAA regulations, and funding sources.
Maintain productivity targets determined by service.
Provision of service in the office, school, or other identified setting to meet the unique needs of families served.
Participates in Peer Consultation and Quality Assurance Reviews
Works as a team member with other clinical and administrative staff to respond to client and programmatic needs, including the implementation of agency policies, procedures, and initiatives.
Partners with Supervisor to identify and develop plans for professional growth.
With Supervisors approval, partners with other program or clinical staff to identify and develop approaches to address clients unmet needs or service gaps.
Contributes to program functioning by assuming responsibility for special tasks or leadership in special projects as appropriate.
Contributes to agency organizational life by participating in agency wide task forces, committees or problem solving teams as appropriate.
Contributes to agency visibility and development of community linkages by representing the Village in community groups or committees.
Acquiring and maintaining the needed skills in evidenced based models that the agency / program ascribe to.

Specific Responsibilities for MDFT Clinician:

Provides intensive home based family substance abuse services to adolescents who are currently using substances or present with high risk behaviors. Services provided intensive case management, support services, advocacy, psycho-education and mental health services to adolescents and their families. MDFT operates often from a team approach and consists of a MDFT Clinician and MDFT Therapist Assistant both of whom participate in treatment meetings but also work independently with their identified treatment roles. Services provided are in collaboration with DCF, the court system, schools, and other community based providers. Team is responsible for attending weekly individual and group supervision, monthly state-side consultations and MDFT Booster Trainings. Responsibilities also include maintaining clinical documentation according to licensing, accreditation, Medicaid, and University of Miami requirements. Purposes of services are to stabilize the adolescent in the home and transition to traditional outpatient services, improve family functioning and communication, reduce further delinquency, help adolescent reduce or abstain from substance use and connect the adolescent with the community in a positive way. There is expected consultation and coordination care with Psychiatric providers if appropriate. Must maintain productivity targets determined by Service and remain current on all model training requirements.


Clinical degree in social work, psychology, or other licensed-eligible counseling degree
Bilingual/bicultural required.
Cultural competency to serve a diverse population
Strong diagnostic, assessment and treatment skills for individual, family and group therapy.
Extensive experience working with culturally diverse urban populations, a wide age range, and a variety of clinical presentations.
Knowledge of mental health, child welfare systems, and community resources.
Good organizational and communication skills.
Ability to function autonomously in day to day responsibilities; yet, seek consultation appropriately when needed.
Proficiency with word processing and general computer skills.
Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations. These responsibilities include but are not limited to, the ability to function safely in a therapeutic situation, including provision of services in client homes or host settings.
